  • December 18, 2019 – Delay in the release of scores in the Online Reporting System (ORS) for Fall 2019 ILEARN Biology ECA

The release of scores in ORS for the Fall 2019 ILEARN Biology ECA originally scheduled for Wednesday, December 18 has been delayed.  Additional time is needed to review the data due to the small number of students taking the assessment during this administration.  Scores will now be available in ORS on Monday, December 23.

The Rescore window for the Fall 2019 ILEARN Biology ECA will open on Wednesday, December 18 as scheduled.  Due to the fact that Principals can now review student overall scale score results in ORS as part of the rescore process, Principals will likely want to postpone review and request any rescores once score reports are available in ORS on Monday, December 23.  As a reminder, the Fall 2019 ILEARN Biology ECA rescore window is December 18-January 17.

  • December 10, 2019 - TESTING ISSUE RESOLVED

Students impacted by the IIEP/TIDE data flow issue may resume testing. The following options exist in consideration of this action.

Schools should choose from the following options as they resume testing:

    ILEARN Biology ECA:
    Option 1:
    •    Schools may continue with the current test form and the assessment will be scored as implemented. If students were impacted by the discrepancy, communication to the parent is needed for their awareness.
    Option 2:
    •    Schools may invalidate this test attempt. Schools and corporations are required to meet a 95% participation threshold for federal reporting. Invalidations may drop schools and corporations below this threshold for reporting. It is not a factor in accountability reporting at the state or federal level.
    •    Contact Kelly Connelly and Jennifer Woo with questions for ILEARN (kconnelly@doe.in.gov; jwoo@doe.in.gov).

TIDE currently reflects accommodations designated to students in IIEP as of December 8, 2019. Please confirm all student accommodations prior to completing test administrations.

We apologize for any inconvenience this issue has caused. Please contact Karen Davies, kdavies@doe.in.gov, with any questions specific to accommodations.

  • November 20, 2019 – Updates for Technology Coordinators

On October 21, 2019, AIR announced that internal QA testing discovered the Mac Secure Profile was not blocking keyboard shortcuts to take screenshots on Mac OS X devices, and posted updated Technology Guides with steps to manually disable these shortcuts as a short-term solution. As the long-term solution, AIR worked with Apple to update the Secure Profile so that it now blocks these keyboard shortcuts.

The updated Mac Secure Profile is now available on the Portal’s Secure Browser page. Mac devices with the former Secure Profile (installed before November 2019) will need to ensure that keyboard shortcuts for screenshots are manually disabled, or will need to install the updated Secure Profile by repeating the Profile’s installation steps. The former Secure Profile does not need to be deleted in order to install the updated profile. The Technology Setup for Online Testing Quick Guide and the Additional Configurations and Troubleshooting Guide for Mac are updated with this guidance. Please contact AIR's Indiana Assessment Help Desk at airindianahelpdesk@air.org or 1-866-298-4256 if assistance is needed with setting up Mac OS X devices for online testing.

CAI and Apple are working together to develop a Secure Profile that disables the keyboard command.

Fourth generation iPads are no longer supported because those devices are unable to update to a supported iOS version. • April 25, 2019 – Chrome OS 73

AIR has learned the latest release of Chrome OS (73) has introduced a problem in the way some items on ILEARN assessments are rendered. This is limited to Chrome OS 73, and is not reproduced on earlier versions of Chrome OS. AIR will provide notice through the Portal and Help Desk correspondence when the problem is resolved in full. Until then, AIR suggests customers using Chrome OS use devices locked on supported versions of Chrome OS, or revert their devices on OS 73 back to OS 72.0.3626.117, if possible. Contact the Indiana Assessment Help Desk (airindianahelpdesk@air.org or 866-298-4256) for any assistance.

  • April 23, 2019 - ILEARN Math and Biology Non-Performance Tasks

ILEARN Math and Biology Non-Performance Task tests that were started on April 22nd unexpectedly expired overnight. Students that started Non-Performance Task tests yesterday are not currently able to access those tests. Students will be able to access those tests again shortly. • April 22, 2019 - Clarification for “Accommodated Forms”

Accommodated forms are only needed for students requiring Refreshable Braille (ELA, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies) and Spanish translation (Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies). Test Administrators should select the entire Summative test selection category, as pictured below with ILEARN Mathematics Summative tests. This will ensure students needing either Refreshable Braille or Spanish have access to those forms, and students not needing either of those forms still have access to the non-accommodated English forms.

Test administrators administering either the online Refreshable Braille or Spanish ILEARN accommodated forms need to ensure those students have the correct language setting designated in TIDE’s Designated Features (embedded).  The specific accommodated forms are selected when starting a session. The forms are identifiable by the “- Accommodated Form” at the end of the test name, and are located within the Summative test selection categories.

  • April 11, 2019 – Intermittent TTS Issue on Chrome OS
AIR is aware of a potential problem with the online embedded Text-to-Speech (TTS) accommodation on devices using Chrome OS. When presented with the sound check page, some students see a message that TTS is not available. They should not proceed to the test, as TTS will not activate. AIR and Google have not been able to determine the root of the issue, but have confirmed thus far that the issue does not lie within the secure browser app or the online test delivery system. While a root cause is not yet known, uninstalling and reinstalling the secure browser is effective as a workaround.
If you are experiencing this issue, please contact the Indiana Assessment Helpdesk. Help Desk agents are able to assist with logging a report with Google. Logging a report with Google will generate a ticket that AIR Developers can reference as we work with Google to identify a long term solution.

  • An issue was discovered within Google Chrome’s previous operating software version that resulted with a “login shell.alert.login error” message for students attempting to sign into the AIRSecureTest app on Chromebooks. Google has included the fix for this issue in the latest Chrome OS version, Chrome OS 72.0.3626.117, and AIR is able to announce full support of this version with online testing as no other compatibility issues have been discovered. Many, if not most, Chrome OS devices should already be running on OS 72.0.3626.117, as it became available on Google’s stable channel on Wednesday, February 20, 2019.

As communicated in the Technology Setup for Online Testing Quick Guide and Additional Configurations and Troubleshooting Guide for Chrome OS resources, AIR recommends disabling Chrome OS auto-updates or limiting updates to a specific version used successfully before summative testing begins.

  • New AIR Secure Browser for Mac OS X

AIR will release a new Secure Browser on November 26, 2018, for desktop and laptop devices running on Mac OS X. Installation of this new browser will be required to administer tests to students using devices running on Mac OS X 10.13 and 10.14. This requirement eliminates recently discovered security risks while testing on Mac OS X 10.13 and 10.14. Devices running on the other supported Mac OS X versions (available on the Indiana Assessment Portal’s Secure Browsers page) will not need to take any action as the security risks are limited to Mac OS X 10.13 and 10.14. If a device needs to be updated with the new Mac OS X secure browser, the previous Mac Secure Browser must first be uninstalled. The instructions for doing so are in the Additional Configurations and Troubleshooting Guide for Mac, available on the Assessment Portal’s Technology Resources page. After that step is complete, follow the short Installing Secure Browser for Mac OS X instructions on the Secure Browsers page to guide installation of the new Mac OS X Secure Browser. AIR will post an announcement on the Assessment Portal once the new Mac OS X Secure Browser is available for download on November 26, 2018.
